The top-selling Colima Mexican chiminea has had a make-over and is now available in a high-gloss “real-glaze” brown finish.
This revolutionary new finish is the result of a “real-glaze” process that bonds glass to the surface of the clay, giving it a stunning, deep shine.
The real-glaze process not only looks great, but it also has very practical benefits too. Firstly, the chiminea will maintain its colour, even after multiple firings so you can enjoy the same rich colour for longer than traditionally finished chimineas.
Secondly, as the clay is covered in glaze it is far less porous, and therefore, and susceptible to cracking due to frost.
However, we do always recommend that you keep your clay chiminea covered – especially when cooler and wet.
This is a really stunning addition to the Colima Mexican chiminea range – and a real focal point for any garden or other outdoor area.
Comes with stand and matching rain-lid.
No assembly required.
Dimensions:
- > Diameter: 45cm
- > Hieght: 110cm
A BBQ grill can also be used with these chimineas, making them not good for outdoor heating, but great for entertaining, too!
You should always season a clay chiminea before use. More information can be found on our blog.
More about “real glazing” – the science bit:
As part of the glazing process vitruous coloured glass powder is applied to the surface of the chimineas, which is then fired in a high temperature oven to 1100c. The glazing bonds onto the surface of the clay. It is a permanent finish that keeps its colour even after firing or leaving outside. Glazing also makes chimineas more water resistant by sealing the pores in the clay. Glazing may ‘craze’ when fired repeatedly or left outside for periods of time. Crazing are fine line formations on the surface of the clay. It is a natural process and will not affect use.
