They make the plain clay body first then add the ‘sprigging’, which is basically 3d patterns pressed out of clay moulds. Attached firmly to the body by cross-hatching the part-dry body with a knife then using a clay slurry as ‘glue’, the raised pattern is highlighted in a toning pale grey. Isn’t she gorgeous?
