Our Chiminea Featured on ITV’s Love Your Garden

We were chuffed to bits to get an email from the people at Spun Gold TV, producers of ITV’s popular garden make-over show Love Your Garden. And we were delighted to donate a chiminea to a very good cause.

As seen on TV – We help Hari love his garden

The programme stars Alan Tichmarsh and his crack team of garden designers and gardeners – David Domoney, Katie Rushworth and Frances Tophill – tasked with transforming a different outdoor space every week for a family in particular need of a beautiful, functional garden.

Love Your Garden – About the show

This is the show’s sixth series, filmed between mid-April to July across Britain and airing on ITV1 from Tuesday 21st June through to August. If you want to catch it, it’s on between 8-9pm, and anything between 3.8 and 4 million people watch it every week. It’s actually the nation’s most watched gardening programme, as well as one of ITV’s most popular programme in the prime time 8-9pm weekday timeslot, second only to the channel’s famous soaps.

Who got our fabulous Colima chiminea?

A tatty and very odd-shaped garden in Kent was given a special make-over by the team, on behalf of an incredibly brave veteran Gurkha and double amputee, Hari, who lost both legs in Afghanistan. The team were keen to give him a taste of Nepalese magic in his English back garden, a reminder of his home country which he dearly misses. A calm, green space is essential to help Hari cope with his PTSD, his wife likes to pray outdoors and their two children also enjoy outdoor fun, so the new garden is a real winner.

The chiminea is in pride of place in the finished garden, looking perfectly at home against the beautiful Nepal-inspired backdrop and ready for Hari and his family to fire up. As you can see it’s an XL sized Colima clay chiminea in a deep, rich red. It stands a mighty 130cm high, is perfect for BBQing and as a highly efficient patio heater, and comes complete with a stand and matching lid.

About the garden itself

As usual the programme was a hugely pleasurable emotional rollercoaster. Hari, a delightful man, has boundless energy, which he generously spends on making other people’s lives better. The team had the chance to make Hari’s life better in turn, something the entire family appreciated enormously.

The Nepal-inspired design contained a fully-working tinkling mountain stream, a miniature temple, easy-to-access patio and decking areas, exotic planting and plenty of creativity in the form of decorative metal screens with laser-cut rhododendron flowers, Nepal’s national flower, and cleverly-painted concrete.
